Belmont had a very special morning pledge in honor of
the heroes of September 11th and our country.
Celebrating Cultures and Communities!
Our wonderful 3rd grade students were invited to the library to experience all the wonders of Mexico. They were able to explore the artifacts in the Journey’s Discovery Chest exhibition from the Huntington Arts Council. The exciting artifacts included traditional clothing, containers, pictures, instruments and so much more. Students created their own Day of the Dead Masks in art to represent Mexican celebrations. This program was a true collaboration between our 3rd grade classroom teachers, Mrs. Carolyn Whitney, Art Teacher, and Ms. Jennifer Olsen, School Library Media Specialist.

Belmont 5th Grade Researches 50 States
In collaboration with the 5th grade teachers Ms. Olsen, School Library Media Specialist Launched the Research Assess Program at Belmont. Research is an important element in learning and our students began by researching the States. Ms. Olsen modeled how to research on the World Book database during library class. She then visited each 5th grade classroom to provide research support as the students navigated the World Book database answering their research questions. Discussions in regard to the significance of using accurate sources for research occurred. The students were very excited to learn so much about their state!!
